Children believe they are the center of the universe, and rightly so. They want our approval and all our attention. This little boy just wants the world to look at him and know he is here. I think we all want that most of our lives. This is the poem I wrote for this painting. Prints and cards are available.

Look At Me

His dad had told his little boy to rake up the leaves that fell.

He said he’d pay him a few dollars, and the boy thought that was just swell.

He raked for just a little while, then he started to play.

His sister came out and told him to work, but he just shooed her away.

The sun was warm and the air was brisk, and he grabbed

the old oak tree, and in his mind he wanted to shout,

HEY WORLD TAKE A LOOK AT ME.
